I have loved art and color for as long as I can remember and I imagine my bent in that direction came about and was nurtured by the strong creative women in my family.
My mother could paint beautifully and I often lifted the lid of her wicker basket to be intrigued by paint, brushes, and the smell of turpentine. From her, I learned to love drawing, painting, and color.
Both of my grandmothers were into traditional fiber arts. One taught me to crochet rugs using a hook she whittled from a small Dogwood branch. My other grandmother made quilts, did embroidery, and taught me to sew. From them, I learned to love the beautiful colors and textures of fabric.
So when I was introduced to rug hooking in 1995, it was a perfect fit for me. I loved all of the wonderful wools and the possibilities they represented and soon was designing more rugs than I could hook. Thus CrowCreekFarm came into being. It has been so much fun to see my hooked rug patterns come to life in the hands of so many talented people.
I love the creative process and am inspired by simple rural life, all things old, and the joy of the Lord. I take care to draw each rug design on quality primitive linen from the Dorr Mill store. All border lines are straight with the grain of the fabric. Pattern edges are 3 1/2 to 4 inches wide and are serged to prevent fraying.
Thank you for stopping by my shop! I am so excited to now offer my designs here on Etsy!
